This draft allows teams to pick unprotected players from other organizations, often giving those players a chance to prove themselves at the major league level. However, McGarry’s time with Washington turned out to be short.
Over the weekend, the Nationals decided to designate McGarry for assignment, effectively removing him from their roster. Following that decision, he was returned to the Phillies, who quickly welcomed him back into their system. The move gives Philadelphia another option as they continue preparing for the long season ahead.
The Phillies have assigned McGarry to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he will work on refining his skills and staying ready for a potential call-up. While he has yet to make his Major League debut, he remains a pitcher with intriguing upside. If injuries or roster needs arise during the season, McGarry could find himself getting an opportunity at the highest level.
One of McGarry’s most notable attributes is his velocity. The 26-year-old right-hander is capable of throwing a fastball that reaches 100 miles per hour, making him a potentially dangerous weapon on the mound.
