Slipknot is preparing to release a long-awaited project called “Look Outside Your Window but unfortunately something happened…

The “mythical” status of Slipknot’s unreleased project, Look Outside Your Window, has long been a source of both fascination and frustration for the Maggot collective. Recorded during the experimental sessions for 2008’s All Hope Is Gone, the album—featuring Corey Taylor, Shawn “Clown” Crahan, Jim Root, and Sid Wilson—has spent nearly two decades in the shadows.

However, as of April 2026, the long wait is finally nearing its end—though not without the signature “Clown” twists that have defined its history.

The 18-Year Wait: Why Look Outside Your Window is Finally Opening

For years, Look Outside Your Window was the “Great Lost Album” of heavy metal. Described by Corey Taylor as having a “Radiohead vibe” and being “super melodic and artistic,” it was never intended to be a standard Slipknot record. Because of its experimental nature, it was repeatedly shelved to avoid “watering down” the band’s primary brand or clashing with major release cycles like We Are Not Your Kind or The End, So Far.

The “Something” That Happened

Fans were initially told the album would arrive in 2024, and then again in 2025. However, “something” did indeed happen to shift the timeline: a massive $120 million deal involving the sale of the band’s publishing rights and royalties in late 2025. This corporate restructuring, combined with the band’s focus on integrating new drummer Eloy Casagrande and preparing for their “25th Anniversary” celebrations, pushed the experimental side-project into a very specific release window.

Clown addressed the delays with uncharacteristic vulnerability in late 2025, stating:

> “I know I told everyone it would be this year. I’m very sorry it hasn’t been. Things come to play that change things all the time… I’m just getting tired of waiting myself. Have faith. I promise.”

The Official 2026 Launch

The breakthrough finally came in February 2026. Look Outside Your Window was officially confirmed as a Record Store Day 2026 special release.

* Release Date: April 18, 2026

* Format: Indie-exclusive Vinyl

* The Vibe: Experimental Rock / Psychedelic

By releasing it under the Look Outside Your Window moniker rather than the “Slipknot” name, the band is finally giving the project the standalone identity it was always meant to have. For the fans who have tracked every interview and Discord leak for 18 years, the arrival of these 11 “lost” tracks represents more than just new music—it is the closing of a chapter from Slipknot’s most turbulent and

creative era.
