Kentucky Basketball is continuing its search for experienced and adaptable talent, and one name gaining attention is BYU transfer forward Kennard Davis. The Wildcats are among several programs reportedly interested in the 6-foot-6 wing, as they assess options in the transfer portal to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.
Davis spent the 2025–26 campaign at BYU, where he played a significant role for the team. Starting all 32 games, he averaged 8.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per contest. Logging close to 30 minutes per game, he established himself as a reliable presence on the court. His consistency was evident, as he reached double-digit scoring in 11 games throughout the season. One of his most notable performances came during the Big 12 Tournament, where he scored 20 points against West Virginia, showcasing his ability to step up in important moments.
Before transferring to BYU, Davis made a strong impact at Southern Illinois. During the 2024–25 season, he averaged an impressive 16.3 points per game, earning Second Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors. Over his two seasons with the Salukis, he maintained an average of 10.3 points per game while shooting better than 44 percent from the field. His time at Southern Illinois highlighted his scoring ability and efficiency, helping to establish his reputation as a capable offensive contributor.
Kentucky’s interest in Davis reflects a broader strategy of targeting seasoned players who can bring versatility and experience to the team. Davis fits this approach well, as he is capable of playing multiple positions on the wing. His skill set allows him to stretch the floor offensively while also contributing on the defensive end, using his length and activity to disrupt opponents.
Although his three-point shooting percentage at BYU stood at 32.1 percent, Davis demonstrated flashes of strong perimeter shooting. One standout example came in a game against top-ranked Arizona, where he hit five consecutive three-pointers in a single half without missing. Performances like that suggest he has the potential to be a more consistent outside threat.
With several high-level programs expressing interest, Davis is expected to have multiple options as he considers his next move. Kentucky, however, is positioning itself as a competitive destination, aiming to attract him as part of its ongoing roster development. As the Wildcats continue to evaluate talent in the transfer portal, adding a player like Davis could provide valuable depth, experience, and flexibility heading into the new season.
