Texas Strengthens Defense with Key Additions as Offseason Momentum Continues
The Texas Longhorns continue to build impressive momentum this offseason, showing no signs of slowing down in their efforts to strengthen the roster. Already considered one of the more productive teams in terms of player acquisition, Texas has added two more defensive pieces in recent days: Michigan State transfer linebacker Darius Snow and 2026 defensive end prospect Brinley Tita.

Snow, a Texas native from Frisco, brings experience and versatility to the Longhorns’ defense. He had initially been a priority target for the coaching staff early in the transfer portal process, but the program was unable to secure his commitment at that time. Now, however, Texas has successfully brought him into the fold. While his immediate role may be limited, particularly given the depth already present on the roster, Snow is expected to contribute on special teams and provide valuable depth at the linebacker position.
A seventh-year player, Snow’s career has been impacted by injuries, most notably a season-ending knee injury in 2022. He also dealt with setbacks during his redshirt sophomore and junior seasons, which slowed his development. Despite those challenges, reports indicate that he has fully recovered and is entering the upcoming season in good health. If he can quickly adapt to the Longhorns’ defensive system and regain his form, he could carve out a role in specific defensive packages and potentially become a contributor beyond special teams.
Alongside Snow’s addition, Texas also secured a late commitment from Brinley Tita, a defensive end prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Though not as highly ranked as some of the program’s other recruits, Tita brings intriguing potential and athleticism. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds, he possesses a build similar to current Longhorn defender Kosi Okpala, which could allow him to develop into a versatile defensive player.
Tita is expected to take a developmental path early in his college career, likely redshirting during his freshman season. His recruitment was relatively under the radar, with limited offers reported, including one from Division II Henderson State. Earlier in the year, he had been committed to Cisco Junior College before ultimately deciding to join Texas.
Despite his lower recruiting profile, Tita’s high school production speaks for itself. Playing at Summer Creek High School in Humble, Texas, he demonstrated an ability to impact games consistently. During his senior season, he recorded 94 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks, along with forcing three fumbles and recovering one. His performance earned him District 23-6A Defensive Player of the Year honors, highlighting his effectiveness and effort on the field.
Known for his relentless motor, Tita has experience playing both on the edge and along the interior defensive line, creating mismatches against opposing offensive linemen. His versatility could allow Texas to experiment with his role, potentially keeping him at defensive end or transitioning him to a linebacker spot depending on his development.
With the additions of Snow and Tita, Texas continues to reinforce its defense while building both immediate depth and long-term potential. The Longhorns’ aggressive approach this offseason reflects a clear commitment to strengthening every level of the roster as they prepare for future competition.
