The Auburn Tigers football remain firmly in the mix for one of the rising defensive prospects in the 2027 recruiting class. Four-star EDGE recruit recently revealed his list of finalists, and Auburn successfully earned a spot among the schools still competing for his commitment.
According to recruiting analyst Tom Loy of 247Sports, Vaughn is expected to announce his college decision on Tuesday, May 26, at 5:30 p.m. Central Time. The talented pass rusher has become one of the more talked-about prospects in his class after seeing his recruiting stock rise significantly over the past several months.

Auburn and head coach Alex Golesh now face stiff competition in the race for Vaughn’s commitment. Several major programs remain under consideration, including SEC rivals LSU Tigers football and South Carolina Gamecocks football. National contenders such as Notre Dame Fighting Irish football and Miami Hurricanes football are also still involved as Vaughn moves closer to making his final decision.
One reason Vaughn’s recruitment has gained so much attention is because of how rapidly his profile has grown after reclassifying from the 2028 recruiting cycle into the 2027 class. Since making that transition, the New Jersey standout has quickly become viewed as one of the top young edge defenders in the country.
Recruiting services currently rank Vaughn as the No. 15 EDGE prospect nationally in the 2027 class. He is also regarded as the No. 4 overall player from the state of New Jersey, further highlighting just how highly scouts and evaluators view his long-term potential.
As his ranking has climbed, so has the level of interest from powerhouse programs across the country. Vaughn has received offers from several major schools during the current recruiting cycle, including Alabama Crimson Tide football, Georgia Bulldogs football, Colorado Buffaloes football, Indiana Hoosiers football, and Virginia Tech Hokies football. The growing list of elite programs pursuing him reflects how valuable edge rushers have become in modern college football.
For Auburn, landing Vaughn would represent another major victory for a recruiting class that has steadily gained momentum in recent weeks. The Tigers currently sit at No. 39 in the latest 2027 recruiting rankings from 247Sports and have already secured six verbal commitments.
Coach Golesh and his staff have been especially active on the recruiting trail lately, adding five new commitments since April 18. That recent surge has helped generate optimism around the direction of the program and its ability to compete for elite talent against other SEC schools.
One of the biggest additions during Auburn’s recent recruiting run was four-star running back Myson Johnson-Cook, who became one of the headline commitments in the class. Adding a highly rated defensive prospect like Vaughn would give the Tigers even more momentum heading deeper into the recruiting cycle.
With Vaughn’s announcement date quickly approaching, Auburn now waits to see whether it can win another important recruiting battle against some of the nation’s top football programs.
