Leeds United Close in on Conrad Harder as Transfer Talks Advance
Leeds United are reportedly making significant progress in their pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Conrad Harder as they look to strengthen their attacking options before the summer transfer window closes.
The 21-year-old Denmark international has emerged as one of the players on Leeds’ shortlist, with the Premier League club keen to add another centre-forward to Daniel Farke’s squad. Reports indicate that negotiations have advanced, potentially putting Leeds ahead of several other clubs interested in securing Harder’s services.
According to reports from Italy, Sevilla and Lazio have also shown interest in the young striker. Harder is believed to be attracted by the possibility of moving to Spain, which could make Sevilla a serious competitor for his signature. However, Leeds’ recent progress in negotiations could give the English club an important advantage as the transfer deadline approaches.
Harder Looking for Greater Opportunities
Harder is regarded as one of Denmark’s promising young attacking talents, but his first season at RB Leipzig has not provided him with the regular starting role he may have expected.
The striker joined Leipzig from Sporting CP last summer and has struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter. Despite making 33 appearances, he has accumulated only 1,074 minutes on the pitch, registering four goals and four assists during that period.
His limited playing time has not significantly affected his reputation, however. Harder remains highly regarded in the transfer market, with several clubs monitoring his situation. He also began the 2026/27 campaign without a starting role but has already found the net in his only appearance so far this season.
A move away from Leipzig could therefore give the Danish forward the opportunity to play more regularly and continue his development.
Why Leeds Want Harder
Leeds’ interest in Harder comes as the club seeks greater depth and competition in the striker position. The Whites recently allowed Joel Piroe to leave on loan for West Ham United, while Lukas Nmecha has yet to produce consistent performances since arriving at Elland Road.
That situation has left Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the club’s main dependable centre-forward, increasing the pressure on the experienced striker to remain fit and productive throughout the campaign.
With Leeds targeting a strong Premier League season and hoping to challenge for European qualification, strengthening their attacking department has become an important priority.
Following the arrival of Harry Wilson, Leeds are now looking to add another attacking player capable of making an immediate impact. Harder could provide valuable competition for Calvert-Lewin while also offering the potential for long-term development.
His age, European experience and ability to contribute goals and assists make him an attractive option for Farke’s side.
However, Leeds still have work to do before a deal can be completed. With Sevilla and Lazio also interested, the club must convince Harder that a move to Yorkshire represents the best next step in his career.
With the transfer window rapidly approaching its conclusion, negotiations are expected to remain closely watched as Leeds attempt to complete a deal for the highly rated Danish striker.
