Former Browns Star Amari Cooper Projected to Land With Seahawks After Tough 2025 Season
Amari Cooper’s 2025 season couldn’t have gone much worse. Once a fan favorite with the Cleveland Browns, Cooper was traded to the Buffalo Bills, but unfortunately, things didn’t pan out with either team. While some of his underperformance with the Browns can be attributed to the team’s instability at quarterback, Cooper failed to meet expectations in Buffalo—despite being surrounded by a talented offense.
That downturn is likely a major reason why Cooper still remains unsigned. Neither the Browns nor the Bills appear interested in bringing the five-time Pro Bowler back. However, Cooper’s career résumé still carries weight, and Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon believes there’s a strong chance Cooper could land with the Seattle Seahawks.

Gagnon highlighted Cooper’s upside, stating: “He’s one of the top available free agents. Even though he had a rough 2024, he’s still only 30 years old and posted more than 1,200 receiving yards with Cleveland in 2023. The concern is that Cooper has often struggled with consistency and dealt with lingering injuries, which limited his effectiveness this past season.”
Gagnon also mentioned that the Las Vegas Raiders could be a possible destination, but sees Seattle as a better fit. “Seattle has cap space and a need for a receiver like Cooper—either an X or Z—to complement Cooper Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba,” he added.
Buffalo Bills Reflect on Cooper’s Impact
Although Cooper didn’t put up jaw-dropping numbers in Buffalo, Bills general manager Brandon Beane had positive things to say about his contributions.
“I believe Amari helped our offense,” Beane told The Buffalo News. “Did he have All-Pro production? No, but that’s due to several factors. Overall, our offense improved with him. We averaged over 30 points per game and were second in the league in scoring. The message all year was that ‘everybody eats.’ Cooper fit into that mindset and helped take pressure off other weapons like Khalil Shakir, Dawson Knox, and Dalton Kincaid.”
While Cooper didn’t emerge as a statistical leader, his presence played a role in Buffalo’s offensive success. Unlike his final days in Cleveland, Cooper at least found himself on a winning team.
Why Seattle Could Be a Great Fit
The Seahawks are in the midst of rebuilding their offense and have made several key changes this offseason. Although there are still unknowns, Seattle seems to be trending in the right direction and could be a strong landing spot for a veteran like Cooper.
With a mix of established playmakers and young talent, Seattle offers an opportunity for Cooper to contribute without carrying the full load. He could thrive in a system that spreads the ball and values experienced receivers.
After a frustrating stretch with the Browns and an unfulfilling run with the Bills, Cooper is likely looking for a more stable and competitive environment. Seattle could give him just that—a fresh start on a team with playoff potential.
