Tyrese Maxey of the Sixers Responds to Joel Embiid’s Severe Injury Scare vs. Knicks
Tyrese Maxey, a great player for the Philadelphia 76ers, shared his opinion on Joel Embiid’s injury scare during Game 1 against the New York Knicks.
In Saturday’s opening-round game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks, Joel Embiid was nearly hurt again.
Following a spectacular dunk, Embiid’s post-throw-down resulted in an ungainly landing that sent him grasping at his knee and tumbling to the floor.
Tyrese Maxey, an all-star player for the Sixers, told reporters on Saturday, “It’s tough seeing your brother go down.” “You just sort of hope for him, pray for him, and feel sorry for him.”
Given that Embiid has been recovering from a meniscus injury since January, the center for the Sixers is always taking it slow. Embiid returned to play two weeks ago following surgery and an eight-week recuperation period.
Ever since he returned to the Sixers starting lineup, the big man has been designated as doubtful for every game. That was the situation prior to the first game versus the Knicks. After being cleared, Embiid played with all of his intensity in the first half. However, as halftime drew near, he returned to the locker room early to have himself assessed.
“I don’t really know because I didn’t see the fall,” Maxey said.
It makes sense that the Sixers were relieved to see Embiid enter the game again at the start of the second half on Saturday. Embiid found it difficult to replicate his output in the second half, but it was evident that his presence had an impact.
When we returned to the locker room, Maxey said, “I was happy to see him and he said he was going to go back out there and give it a try.” “Congratulations on his perseverance and desire to succeed.”
In Game 1, the Sixers were not able to secure the victory. The Knicks lost early control of the game but made up for it in the second half with an excellent performance that was too strong to overcome in the fourth quarter.
The Sixers were defeated by the Knicks 111-104. Though there are still concerns regarding Embiid’s long-term health, the Sixers are upbeat going into Game 2.
Embiid was described by Maxey as “always a fighter.” He will always attempt to give his squad his all on the field. Should he be able to travel. He believes he can go, so he will definitely go.
